Research and Third Mission Commission

The Research and Third Mission Commission is an advisory and instrumental body to the Director and the Departmental Council on issues related to scientific research and the promotion of activities that foster interaction between the University, the Territory and the Community in its socio-economic and political-cultural expressions. The DEIM conducts research in the fields of economics, engineering, humanities and social sciences. The coexistence of its main fields – economic-statistical, historical-social and scientific-technological – guarantees the possibility of using the most appropriate skills and professionalism.

The interdisciplinary structure of the DEIM encourages participation in the many strategic objectives of the Third Mission/Social Impact identified by the National Agency for the Evaluation of the University System and Research. The Economic and Statistical Sciences (ECO-STAT) area includes the productive and entrepreneurial realities of the territory; the Historical and Social Sciences (STO-SOC) area includes the political and administrative institutions, the school-education system and the actors of the third sector; the Scientific and Technological area (SCI-TEC) is present in the field of technological innovation and its valorisation in the territory. There is also a specific focus on the production and management of artistic and cultural heritage (BBCC).

The three areas also participate in lifelong learning and teaching activities, public engagement activities, the production of public goods, support for open science and the pursuit of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set by the United Nations 2030 Agenda.
