Role of Student Representatives
Student representatives play a crucial role in improving the quality of teaching and educational programs at the University of Tuscia. They represent the needs and experiences of students in the first, second, and third cycles within institutional settings. Student representatives are therefore a key player in building an inclusive and responsive university community, helping to ensure that the needs of female and male students are heard and effectively addressed.
Their main functions can be summarized as:
The representatives are chosen through democratic elections that take place at different levels within the University:
First-Level Elections
Students elect their representatives (e.g., in the Academic Senate and the Board of Directors). These representatives are chosen by universal suffrage directly from students who are regularly enrolled.
Second-Level Elections
Elected representatives can then be elected or appointed to serve in other collegial bodies of the University. These elections take place within the groups of already elected representatives and may include second-level elections or appointments by higher bodies.
Elections for External Bodies
Representatives may also be elected to participate in bodies outside the University, such as the Regional Council for the Right to Education, through specific elections or appointments.
Elections are conducted according to the procedures established by the University Regulations, which define the procedures, timelines, and rules for candidacy and voting.
Students can run for election and vote according to the guidelines specified in the Regulations, and detailed information on elections and candidates is provided on the University’s official website through official communications.
Candidacy:
Students interested in becoming representatives must submit their candidacy according to the deadlines and procedures specified in the Regulations.
Student representatives are present in all bodies and working groups of the University of Tuscia that deal with issues of interest to students. They provide opinions on proposals under discussion, acting as intermediaries between the student community and decisions related to teaching, services, and other aspects of university life.
At the University of Tuscia, student representatives participate in various bodies, including the Board of Directors, the Academic Senate, the Evaluation Committee, the Department Councils, and the Course of Study Councils. Additionally, there is the Student Council, which gives mandatory opinions on proposals related to the activation, modification, or elimination of study programs, as well as on interventions concerning the right to education and student services.
The names and contact information of the representatives are available here.
