THE WALKING DEB 2.0 – SECOND EDITION

On Monday, April 22, 2024, in celebration of Earth Day, the Department of Ecological and Biological Sciences (DEB) at the University of Tuscia organized a scientific trek in the Marturanum Regional Natural Park in Barbarano Romano (VT). Upon arrival, the participants were welcomed by the Park Director, Stefano Celletti.

The naturalistic route started from the town of Barbarano and wound through the valley of the T. Biedano, following the CAI 105 trail between the II and III Mola. Guided by faculty from the Degree Program in Natural and Environmental Sciences at DEB, the trek provided participants with the opportunity to explore the natural wonders of the area, delving into the geological, botanical, and zoological aspects of the Park. The faculty also discussed emerging professional opportunities in the fields of environmental and natural sciences.

Fifty participants were selected from students in their fourth and fifth years of high school from schools in Rome and the Viterbo area. The organization provided all participants with educational materials, gadgets, and a personalized certificate of participation, useful for personal orientation and earning academic credits.

The event was part of the celebrations for the 45th anniversary of the University of Tuscia and was sponsored by Earth Day Italy, the Park Authority, and the Municipality of Barbarano Romano.
