DESCRIPTION
The Engineering laboratory includes both test benches for conducting experimental analysis and equipment necessary for carrying out educational research and third mission activities, in different fields of Industrial Engineering. The HW instrumentation and SW tools, present within the laboratory, have as their purpose the execution of experimental tests to support the research activities of the Engineering group in disciplines falling in different fields such as mechanical technology, mechanical design, electrical engineering and fusion. In particular, the main research topics concern fluid dynamics, application of electromagnetism in agriculture, functionalization and characterization of materials, evaluation of electromagnetic and structural properties of copper coils and superconductors at high temperature and, design and engineering of metamaterials. The Laboratory is also used for carrying out research and industrial development activities inherent in various regionally, nationally and internationally funded projects.

 

AVAILABLE EQUIPMENTS

The following equipment is present in the laboratory:

  • MTS Alliance 50 tensile machine (mechanical analysis)
  • HF-CVD (diamond and graphene deposition)
  • Surface finishing systems
  • Pantograph model GP010-1000 L USB
  • Planar (2D) PIV system with collimated LED illumination system supported by DaVis software for data acquisition and analysis. System possibly extendable for Schlieren and Background Oriented Schlieren (BOS) applications
  • Water Tunnel Device with open circuit and free surface
  • HPE Proliant DL380 Gen 10 Plus server; dual Intel Xeon Gold 6338 CPUs, 1 TB RAM, 10 SSD 800 GB, 14 HDD 2.4 TB
  • Workstation based on Intel Core i9 12th gen 3.19 GHz CPU, 64GB RAM, NVIDIA T600
