Climate change will have repercussions on agriculture, directly affecting the working conditions and well-being of farmers and foresters.
These critical issues in agricultural and forestry work will be addressed during the “Safety Day,” covering risks related to extreme weather events, heat exposure, ultraviolet solar radiation, diseases transmitted by animals and insects, the invasion of predatory species, exposure to dust and pesticides, and the impact of climate change on the mental health of agricultural and forestry workers.
The event, organized by the Laboratory of Ergonomics and Occupational Safety at the Department of Agricultural and Forestry Sciences, University of Tuscia, in collaboration with CREA, the local health authorities (ASL) of Viterbo, Latina, and ASL RM4 of the Lazio Region, and the fifth section of the Italian Society of Agricultural Engineering, has reached its fourteenth edition. It takes place as part of the European Week for Safety and Health at Work and aligns with the 2023-2025 Campaign “Healthy and Safe Workplaces – Occupational Health and Safety in the Digital Age” promoted by the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work.
The Department of Agricultural and Forestry Sciences will grant 1 University Credit (CFU) to high school students who register at the desk and request it, redeemable in one of the DAFNE undergraduate programs.
Additionally, the study day is recognized as valid training for RSPP and ASPP (Art. 32 D.Lgs. 81/08), for safety trainers, and RLS in the agricultural sector for a total of 8 hours. The event is also recognized for “permanent professional training” by the Order of Agronomists and Foresters of the Province of Viterbo, the Order of Engineers of the Province of Viterbo, and the College of Agricultural Technicians and graduates Agricultural Technicians of the Province of Rome.
