On Monday, November 25th, Professor Wolf Dietrich Geppert, Director of the Center for Astrobiology at Stockholm University, will visit the Department of Ecological and Biological Sciences.

On this occasion, at 10:00 a.m. in Room 4 of Riello campus (Largo dell’Università snc), Professor Geppert will deliver a seminar titled: “European Astrobiology Institute: Taking European Astrobiology Research, Training, and Education One Step Further.” The seminar is organized in collaboration with Porta Futuro Lazio, and it is possible to register through the following link: https://portafuturolazio.it/stampa-e-media/attivita/scheda-attivita.aspx?UID=43c4b123-1797-4e70-9e93-3aaf5b972d70.

Since May 2019, Professor Geppert has been the President of the European Astrobiology Institute (EAI), which includes various European research organizations and approximately 20 universities, hosted in Strasbourg by the European Science Foundation.

The European Astrobiology Institute is structured into six Scientific Working Groups and eight Activity Working Groups, coordinating six Project Teams focused on various astrobiological topics, including the search for life and habitable environments on other planets, as well as preparatory activities for the Mars Sample Return (MSR) mission. Additionally, the EAI promotes numerous outreach initiatives, such as seminar series, books, and summer schools.
