Food, landscapes and ecosystems to design sustainable future
Summer School

The international Summer School F_Lland 24, in compliance with the EU Green Deal and Farm-to-Fork strategies, aims at teaching how to apply a fully integrated and multi-disciplinary approach in landscape design and management to valorize local territories.

The aim of the course is to train students on the analysis, design and management proposal for the safeguard and enhancement of inner and marginal areas and their agri-food and forest productions. In view of the ongoing and foreseeable environment transformations, the students will be given the opportunity to acquire operational skills in infrastructural, environmental, and landscape design and management, within an international expertise contest.
The program, based on theoretical and practical activities, lectures, seminars, field visits and workgroups, will provide to the participants an innovating, interdisciplinary working methodology, both large-scale environmental and socio-economic issues.

To train participants to plan useful projects aimed at coping with rural and peri-urban transformational challenges, the following subjects will be examined:
• Integrated models to develop marginal areas: biodiversity management
• Integrated models to develop marginal areas: landscape architecture
• Development of multifunctional productive landscapes
• Circular bioeconomy and innovation in marginal areas

Each subject includes several topics and will be developed through different learning approaches which encourage the interaction among participants. Lectures and other activities will be carried out by professors and researchers from Italian and international Universities.
F_Land 24 is proposed by University of Tuscia in cooperation with the partner Universities of Sapienza University of Rome, Akdeniz University, University of Porto, Wageningen University and with the contribution of the University of Trento – Department of Civil, Environmental and Mechanical Engeneering.
