Unitus students win the digital race

The Digital Race is a contest organized by the UNA Foundation (Human, Nature, and Environment) that aims to involve university students in the development of innovative project ideas for wildlife conservation and management. Eight universities participated in the competition, presenting a total of eleven projects developed by undergraduate and graduate students, guided through the various project phases by some professors.

The University of Tuscia participated in the contest reserved for undergraduate degrees, securing the second place. The group named “La Banda del Caspary” with Valerio Boccia, Danilo Cos, Beatrice Fantozzi, Sabrina Frisoni, Giorgia Polegri, Gaja Ponziani, and Federica Tilomelli, enrolled in the second year of the Bachelor’s degree in “Sustainable Management of Forests and Urban Green Spaces”, ranked just after the University of Parma.

As for the master’s degree classification, the Unitus team formed by “I Tre Tuscettieri” Gabriele Torselli, Nadia Chirosca, and Valerio Prosseda, presented the “Wildnet Project”. Gabriele Torselli and Nadia Chirosca are respectively in their first and second year of the course in Conservation and Restoration of the Environment and Forests, while Valerio Prosseda is in his second year of Digital Management of Agriculture and Mountain Territory (Rieti campus), and they reached the first place with a video on the digital management of wildlife. Also participating were Gaia Giampietri, Simone Pugliese, Aurora Recine, and Marco Sarzani, undergraduate students in their second year of the degree in “Sustainable Management of Forests and Urban Green Spaces”, who, forming the group named “Ricerchiamoci”, did not reach the podium but nevertheless realized an interesting project. Regarding the participation of the University of Tuscia in the contest, the Magnificent Rector stated: “The brilliant results achieved by our students in the Digital Race testify to the importance we place on the protection and conservation of nature in our agroforestry study programs. In a crucial period characterized by the global fight against climate change – the Rector continued – it is precisely institutions like ours that must take responsibility for addressing such challenges, committing to the research and development of innovative environmental projects and promoting increasingly sustainable practices to preserve the well-being of our planet and ensure the future for younger generations.
