The program aims to train a professional profile of an archaeologist actively involved in the design chain of territorial planning. The innovation of the program lies in shifting the archaeologist’s role from a marginal, so to speak, “second phase” role to one actively integrated into the design chain of territorial planning.

The program (short name: Map), organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture (DG-ABAP; DG-MUSEI; ICA), Italferr SpA (Italian State Railways Group), and Archeoimprese, is an interdisciplinary course that combines humanities subjects, with a strong territorial specialization,
the most up-to-date methods of archaeological research, technologies typical of the exact sciences, and managerial elements for the management of the preventive verification phases of archaeological interest at different levels of planning.
The originality and specialization of the subjects, the professionalism, and the coherence between the scientific and managerial skills and experiences of the proposing entities (public and private) involved in the real application of the current regulations on Preventive Archaeology ensure a targeted and qualified scientific, technical, and economic preparation of the students.
The contents covered are characterized by a parallelism between archaeological sector skills and management elements. The course aims to train professional figures capable of participating in the design of territorial transformations, optimizing the interaction between archaeological heritage and infrastructural development, and at the same time enhancing the competitiveness of the clients, contributing to a better quality of projects, greater environmental sustainability of the works, correct management of archaeological risk, and cost optimization.
