In this informative section, we will examine crucial aspects related to the management of your academic journey. Here you will find detailed explanations regarding various processes that allow for temporarily pausing your educational path. We will delve into the following categories: ‘Withdrawal from Studies’, ‘Enrollment After Withdrawal’, ‘Expiration’, and ‘Academic Career Freeze’. Let’s delve into each of these entries, shedding light on the procedures, implications, and considerations associated with them.
The intention to withdraw from studies is expressed by connecting to the GOMP Portal and accessing the function CAREER > APPLICATIONS > “Withdrawal from studies”.
Withdrawal does not entitle the student to a refund of the fees paid and terminates the university career.
To withdraw from studies, the student must be up to date with the payment of university fees and contributions due up to the last year of enrollment prior to the withdrawal.
The student who intends to withdraw after December 31 of the current academic year pays a fixed flat rate of €200, in addition to the virtual stamp duty of €16.00.
If the withdrawal application is sent by December 31 of the current academic year, the student will only pay the virtual stamp duty and any fees already paid cannot be refunded.
The stamp duty of €16.00 must be paid virtually, by downloading the payment slip from the Student Portal.
In the event that a UNITUS student, after having renounced a previous career starting from the 2024/2025 academic year, subsequently completes his/her enrollment in a degree course at UNITUS, he/she may request a refund of the €200.00 fee paid at the time of the renouncement.
The withdrawal does not affect the possibility of re-enrolling in the same course, provided that it is still active, or in a different degree course at the University, requesting recognition of any credits acquired in the previous career from the Course of Study Council, which will verify that they are not obsolescent. The recognition of CFU is subject to payment as indicated in this Regulation.
For this purpose, the following cases are identified:
1) if the student enrolls in a degree course, after having renounced a previous career for more than one academic year, he/she may request recognition of the CFUs obtained in the career subject to renouncement, paying €100 for each validatable exam up to a maximum of €1,500 and will be entitled to a 15% reduction in the fees required (excluding regional tax and stamp duty);
2) if the student enrolls in a degree course, after having renounced a previous career at another University, he/she may request recognition of the CFUs obtained in the career subject to renouncement, paying €100 for each validatable exam up to a maximum of €1,500 and will be entitled to a 15% reduction in the fees required (excluding regional tax and stamp duty).
In the event of withdrawal from a restricted-access study course, the student loses the right to rejoin or reactivate his/her university career for the same course, unless he/she is placed in a useful position in the relevant admission competition.
The academic path is considered expired if:
– Enrollment is not renewed for 8 academic years.
– No exams are taken for the same number of years.
In the event of enrolling in a current degree program after expiration, you can request recognition of the ECTS credits earned in the previous academic path, subject to verification of the non-obsolete nature of the exam contents, by paying €100.00 for each validatable exam.
The student may request the freezing (congelamento) or suspension of his/her career for an entire academic year, which may be extended for a maximum of one additional academic year, benefiting from the exemption from the payment of the relevant university fees, in the following mandatory cases:
1) continuation of studies abroad;
2) enrollment at Military Training Institutes until completion of the relevant courses;
3) attendance of PhD courses (or other university specialization courses);
4) enrollment in other courses, in cases where incompatibility is provided for by law.
5) serious health reasons duly certified that prevent the objective performance of the activities of participation in lessons and study for the purpose of taking exams.
When submitting the freezing request (by sending the form to segreteriastudenti@unitus.it ), the student must be up to date with the payment of the fees relating to previous years. The annual suspension will expire without exception on November 3, 2025.
Once the career is suspended, no career acts are permitted (for example, taking exams, making recognitions, modifying study plans) or administrative acts (for example, issuing registration certificates) until a new registration occurs.
The individual requests will be evaluated by the Administration.
