“Uniti nella diversità”: il motto dell’Unione Europea diviene l’occasione per riflettere sul futuro dell’integrazione europea a un mese dalle elezioni del Parlamento di Strasburgo. Il Convegno organizzato dall’Università degli Studi della Tuscia, con il patrocinio del Servizio di Formazione Socio-Politica della Diocesi di Viterbo e con il sostegno della Pastorale Sociale e del Lavoro diocesana, avrà luogo presso l’Aula Magna di Santa Maria in Gradi a partire dalle ore 9:30 di venerdì 10 maggio. L’incontro si inserisce nell’ambito delle iniziative promosse dai principali Atenei europei per commemorare la “Giornata dell’Europa” del 9 maggio, data che segna l’anniversario della storica dichiarazione Schuman. Le relazioni, di taglio accademico, giornalistico ed esperienziale, intendono stimolare un dibattito attorno ai temi della democrazia partecipativa, della cittadinanza plurale, del rapporto tra l’Unione europea e i popoli europei. Queste questioni di fondo animeranno gli interventi dei relatori: i professori Sante Cruciani, Alberto Spinosa e Daniela Vitiello; il caporedattore centrale del quotidiano Avvenire, Andrea Lavazza; e la responsabile di Radio UNITUS, Elisa Spinelli. Le voci della comunità studentesca, con riflessioni sui temi in dibattito, forniranno ulteriori stimoli e spunti di riflessione. A introdurre i lavori – moderati dal giornalista Bruno Mobrici – il saluto del Magnifico Rettore Stefano Ubertini. In chiusura, le conclusioni del vescovo di Viterbo, mons. Orazio Francesco Piazza. L’iniziativa si inserisce nel percorso che porterà alla nascita della Scuola di Formazione Socio-Politica, intitolata a Mario Fani (il giovane viterbese fondatore dell’Azione Cattolica Italiana), Scuola che la Diocesi di Viterbo intende attivare a partire dal prossimo anno.
