I am a doctoral researcher focused on the intersection of Circular Economy (CE) and Integrated Management Systems (IMS) to support circular business models. My aim is to develop tools for guiding companies in sustainable circular strategies. Passionate about fashion and design, my master’s thesis examined sustainable reporting in the fashion industry. My Ph.D. is co-funded by Dimar, a Valentano-based leather goods producer for luxury brands, focusing on sustainability analysis.
My PhD project is focused on sustainability reporting; it allows companies to monitor and communicate economic, social, and environmental progress, fostering transparency and accountability. The European CSRD Directive (2022/2464/EU) introduces detailed obligations for companies regarding environmental, social, and human rights impacts, with the adoption of ESRS standards and the principle of double materiality. The previous NFRD Directive (2014/95/EU) had already made reporting mandatory for large companies. Reporting is based on standards such as GRI and TCFD. The project also analyzes the connection between sustainability and the circular economy, promoted by EU initiatives like the ‘Circular Economy Package.’ A sustainability report enables the integration of reuse and recycling practices, contributing to economic prosperity and social equity. The project phases include: context and standards analysis (6 months), implementation and data collection (18 months), and final analysis with report drafting (12 months). Engaging stakeholders and using certifications (ISO, LEED, GRS) supports compliance with standards, strengthens reputation, and guides companies towards sustainable and innovative development.
